Sally Anne Blackmore, Ely Place Chambers

Sally is an experienced barrister practising in property, landlord and tenant and housing.  Her most notable case to date is MWB v Rock Advertising [2018] UKSC 24, a key case dealing with the fundamental principles underlying a contract (arising out of a licensor/licensee relationship), in which she was junior counsel for the successful Appellant.  She has represented both mortgagees and mortgagors in mortgage possession proceedings and is well-aware of the issues that each may face. 

Richard Bottomley, Ely Place Chambers

Richard has a busy practice covering Business, Property and Public Law. Before coming to the Bar, he worked at a leading firm of solicitors in their Public Law department.  He also worked for the Texas Defender Service in Houston representing clients on Death Row.  Richard has gained considerable courtroom experience and prides himself on his advocacy.

Richard is frequently instructed in possession claims, boundary disputes, disrepair claims and Part 8 claims.  Recent cases include:

- Two-day trial concerning forfeiture with a harassment counterclaim;

- Mediation in a nuisance claim;

- Trespass claim concerning service;

- Service charge dispute;

- Surrender disrepair claim; and

- Disrepair claim concerning repudiatory breach.

Samantha Dawkins, Partner, Edward Harte

Samantha is a commercial and civil law litigator with a particular specialism in property law.

Samantha has ten years’ experience and in recognition of her achievements she won Lawyer Monthly Women in Law Award 2018 for property litigation and AI Excellence Award of Most Influential Woman in Property Law 2018.

Samantha studied Economic and Social History at Leicester University, continuing her studies at the University of Northumbria where she graduated with a Post Graduate Diploma in law, followed by the Bar Vocational Course.

Having travelled the world, Samantha returned to the UK and worked as an advocate attending a variety of hearings at county courts, from possession proceedings to small claims. She cross-qualified as a solicitor and joined Edward Harte in 2007, becoming a Partner in June 2015.

Samantha is an active member of BNI Valiant, Sussex Law Society & Brighton & Hove Chamber of Commerce. She is also a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and the Property Litigation Association.
