You may have seen the cover story, “Fighting words” in the June 2017 edition of Property in Practice, the magazine of the Law Society’s Property Section:
“The ripples are still being felt from the recent cases of Purrunsing, P&P and Dreamvar. How are law firms responding, especially in the current limbo before the P&P and Dreamvar appeals?”
As the article notes, “firms have clearly had to respond in terms of practice and process, but many are focusing on prevention as well as on training and communication”.
A front page story in the Weekend FT in May highlighted the very real risks posed to solicitors and their clients by “home hijacking”. Not surprisingly, we have found there to be an unusual degree of interest in the topic.
We recognise that some firms will feel confident that they have thought through the risks and put measures in place to minimise them. But for those who feel that there may be more they can do (especially in terms of training and awareness), we are pleased to offer this webinar with Jeremy Cousins QC and Peter Dodge (who appeared for the first defendant, the buyer’s solicitors, in Dreamvar).
